At the Committee’s meeting it was mentioned that the bill (Reg. No. 3131) is aimed at eliminating contradictions between the Criminal Procedure Code and the Law “On Advocacy and Legal Practice” regarding determining documents certifying rights of an attorney to provide legal assistance.
People’s deputies stressed that Central Scientific Experts Office suggests adopt the bill as a basis and consider voiced remarks and proposals. Particularly, it was mentioned that the bill’s text does not correspond to its title.
Moreover, it was claimed that specialized experts from the National University “Odessa Law Academy”, the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, National University “Yaroslav the Wise Law Academy of Ukraine” and the Legislation Institute of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine upheld this bill and submitted their proposals.
According to the Committee members, adoption of the bill will ensure strengthening of democracy and assertion of the rule of law, compliance of the criminal procedural law with the European standards of the criminal justice.
